Welcome to Durham Paddlesport Club. A Durham City based club, dedicated to Kayaking, Canoeing and Stand Up Paddle boarding (SUP).

About

Durham Paddlesport Club (DPC) is a registered charity to help encourage local participation in paddlesport in County Durham.
The club is based in Durham City Centre and is committed to Kayaking, Canoeing and Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP).

Our objective is to provide an opportunity to experience any of these craft on sheltered waters.
The focus is around a safe, fun and social environment, for members to share their knowledge and passion for the sport.

DPC also engages in voluntary river clean-ups and litter picks, doing its part for the environment and our local community.

Season

April – September

The club offers a combination of fully coached sessions on each craft and are usually held on Thursday evenings.
These sessions are held on the River Wear, at the Old Corn Mill, Durham, DH1 3EA.

October – March

To keep up with club demand during the colder months, the kayak coaching sessions move to indoor pool sessions.
These sessions are ideal for practicing core skills, capsizes, rolls and self rescues in a swimming pool environment.

Peer paddles and river trips are held throughout the year at local rivers and lakes across the North East.

Coaches

Our club is proud of our volunteer Coaches, who have British Canoeing Coaching Qualifications.
Coaches and are keen and passionate about the sport and helping club members progress through their British Canoeing Awards.

Craft and Equipment

The club offers a fleet of Kayaks, Canadian Canoes and Paddleboards and the necessary safety equipment.

It also has a limited number of craft available to hire for club paddles on more challenging water, subject to appropriate skill levels and the arrangement of suitable transport. The club encourages all competent paddlers to acquire and transport their own equipment, as they choose to progress into open and white water.

White Water

As club members learn the appropriate core skills and gain experience, it can open exciting opportunities to progress into White Water for those looking to further challenge themselves. These club trips take place as peer paddles, such as local lakes, sessions at Tees Barrage International White Water Centre and open rivers, throughout the North East.
