FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Who can join?

The club is aimed at ages 11+ years, capable of swimming 25 metres (25M) minimum unaided.
This is essential for the safety of all of our members, as you will need to practice and demonstrate self rescue, defensive swimming and other core skills with our Coaches.

There will be moments in paddlesport where things don’t go according to plan and you will take a swim.
Sometimes this can be a full submersion. Therefore, you will need to have some confidence being in and under the water.
(We promise it’s all part of the fun!)

I’d like to try Kayaking, Canoeing or Paddleboarding, but don’t know where to start?

The club aims to host a number of ‘taster’ sessions throughout the year, where you can try one or all of the craft available.
Register your interest by contacting us and visit our Facebook page, to find out upcoming dates these sessions.

How much does it cost?

Visit our About us page for the pricing of coaching sessions and cost of an annual membership.

What clothing is recommended?

Sensible footwear must be worn at all times, such as wet shoes or an old pair of trainers.

Clothing suitable for swimming such as a wetsuit, neoprene, rash vest, lightweight polyester or gym clothing is recommended.
These types of materials don’t absorb lots of water, or become heavy when wet.

Light waterproof layers, such as a cagoule or ‘cag’ can help to protect against wind chill and keep you warm during sessions.
Air temperature is different to water temperature and if you get wet, even a slight breeze can feel quite significant.

A towel or changing robe and dry clothes for the end of the session.
